Featured mala: red agate, #438

This mala is American made. It is constructed in a mindful, meditative manner with the traditional 27 beads, guru bead, and 2 marker beads. The beads are 8mm red agate which has been dyed. Very interesting patterns of swirling oranges, reds, and translucency. The marker beads are natural calcite which are accented with base metal (lead free) spacers. The guru bead is red sandalwood, a natural red wood which has no scent. Bone beads and base metal spacers accent the brass plate focal bead. The tassel is imitation silk.   The beads are strung on cotton and should resist breakage. If it should break within 6 months of purchase, the mala may be returned to me for re-stringing at no charge, buyer pays shipping.
Of course, one does not need to recite mantras to appreciate the beauty of this piece and it would be a fine addition to any collection. Hand malas are generally too large to use as a bracelet. Traditionally, they are held during prostrations. I like to use mine as an un-obtrusive mala while doing walking meditation. Some like to hold their hand mala while going to sleep as the beads make a peaceful focus as one drifts off.
